In the demanding and competitive world of research, excellent management and communication skills will be critical to success.

CIFAR creates a variety of training opportunities on leadership development themes through annual meetings of CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars from across CIFAR’s research programs, as well as additional learning experiences.

Participation in global communities

To inform and disseminate their work, tomorrow’s research leaders must effectively engage key stakeholders in their communities, government, industry, or the general public.

We provide opportunities for early-career researchers to increase the impact of their research by interacting with leaders both inside and outside of academia.

Scholarship benefits include a two-year term in a CIFAR research program, as well as membership in a global, interdisciplinary network of leading researchers.
Unrestricted research funding of $100,000 CAD

Eligible Nationalities:

This scholarship is open to international students seeking research funding in Canada.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be based anywhere in the world, have a Ph.D. (or equivalent), and be within the first five years of beginning a full-time research position at a higher education or research institution. The research interests of scholars should complement the themes and goals of a CIFAR recruiting research program.
  • Please keep in mind that postdoctoral fellows are not eligible to apply.
