ADB Scholarships In Japan 2023 – Government Of Japan Fully Funded: Sponsored by the Asian Development Bank, aims to provide post-graduate education opportunities for citizens of ADB’s developing member countries. The Division of Environmental Studies consisting of six departments and the Graduate Program in Sustainability Science at the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (GSFS) have been designated by ADB for allocation with ADB-JSP Scholarship since 2000. The following sectors are accepting. ADB-JSP students.

Department of Natural Environmental Studies

Department of Ocean Technology, Policy, and Environment

Department of Environment Systems

Department of Human and Engineered Environmental Studies

Department of Socio-Cultural Environment Studies

If you complete a Master’s course in one of the above departments, you will be awarded a Master of Environmental Studies.

Department of International Studies

Graduate Program in Sustainability Science – Global Leadership Initiative

If you complete a Master’s course in a graduate program in Sustainability Science, you will be awarded a Master of Sustainability Science.

Government of Japan Funded ADB Scholarships in Japan 2023 are available to undertake postgraduate level programs at the University of Tokyo.

Capability designated by ADB-JSP

Qualification designated by GSFS

  • Applicants for the Master’s course must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution comparable to a bachelor’s degree offered at the University of Tokyo.
  • Note that ADB-JSP offers its scholarships only to students pursuing a master’s degree.

Application Procedure:

  • Only successful candidates will need to submit documents for the ADB Scholarship Application (mid-February). GSFS will nominate successful candidates who have submitted all required documents to ADB (last March).

ADB-JSP notifies us of selection results (May)

Entry and Immigration Procedures (May to September)

Enter Japan with a student visa and enroll in GSFS (end of September). The fall semester begins on October 1.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am more than 35 years old. Is your institution designated by ADB to accept seniors above 35 years of age?

GSFS is not allowed to recommend any candidate above 35 years of age to ADB.

I would like to take admitted to a doctoral course.

Can I apply for ADB-JSP?

No. ADB-JSP has decided not to provide its scholarships to doctoral course students. If you wish to pursue a Ph.D. degree, we recommend that you apply for the MEXT Scholarship recommended by the Embassy. The first contact is the Japanese embassy in your country.

Does ADB-JSP also cover my dependents?

No. The ADB-JSP Scholarship covers the Scholar only.

Should I contact ADB-JSP directly and send a set of application forms?

No. ADB-JSP accepts applications from designated entities only.

I worked as a research assistant and was paid by my professor while studying for my undergraduate course.

Can I add this as “professional experience” required for ADB-JSP?

no. The professional experience must be what you did after you graduated from the undergraduate program. And the work you have done must be related to the field you studied in your undergraduate program.
